As most of you will know by now, we had to cancel Saturday's (09/01/2010) skate trip to the works in Leeds due to snow and ice making the drive unsafe. =(

We may reschedule this trip but I can't promise anything as yet, but rest assured you will be informed if it happens. If not, the next trip will be to rampworx in Liverpool on 6th February. Im trying to get it for £10 each but I need 8 people to sign up and confirm soon to get all day at that price.

Other than that, we hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. Lets pray for some decent weather.

There has been some serious brain usage in the office this week as we try to pull together ideas on a whole host of things we want to do in 2010. These include but are not limited to an indoor mini ramp, beginners coaching, a cafe near the skatepark, DJ & graffiti workshops, and stocking skate supplies (so you'll be able to get stuff from us for cheap!). It'll probably take a while for us to get all this rolling but expect news on all these various different fronts as we go through 2010.

We are taking bookings for the next skate trip now. It will be to The Works in Leeds, the cost is £16 all day. As usual, fill in the forms and bring them with the money to the Grand and we'll get you booked on.

Nice One.

A City Made Of Ramps

Saturday saw the first of our winter skate park trips, and whilst the uptake wasn't quite as good as we thought it might be, 4 bladers stepped forward and one scouser tagged along.

So we packed up the van, loaded the camera's and set of to Blackpool. Or so we thought. Turned out we didn't have all the consent forms, so we ended up driving round Clitheroe for nearly an hour tracking it down.

We did eventually manage to get to Blackpool though, and we made the most of it. Apart from Jordan breaking his skate about 15 minutes into the session, everyone attacked it. Connor dropped in the 13 ft Vert ramp first go, Robbo and Watson were spotted doing ridiculous spinny flippy things, and scouse mike learned to kick turn.

One trip to McDonalds / Straw war later and we were back in Clitheroe, suitably shattered. Can't wait for Leeds in January.

Tune in next week for more TALES OF THE SKATEPARK!

Yet another week of constant rain has basically meant severe boredom from everyone involved with skating. How have we combatted this boredom? Well I'll tell you. We've found another pot of money to apply for a roof for the skatepark, It's still early days but we should be submitting an application sometime soon. Keep an eye on the news page for developments.

We've had a good bit of publicity for the mobile skatepark too. Paul and Gemma (our marketing guru) did a presentation to the PLAY alliance who helped get the funding for the mobile skatepark project. Off the back of this there has been serious interest about booking sessions for a few different schools in the area, as well as good possibilities for touring the villages when the weather picks up.

There are still places left for the trip to Ramp City (Blackpool) on the 5th of December if you want to book. It costs £5, just complete a booking form and bring it to the grand.

More next week,

Paul & TIm

So whats been happening this week?

Well, It was dry one day so I went for a skate, which was shortly followed by me falling off the deck of the mini ramp and ruining my back. Not stoked. In good news though, Scouse Mike dropped in for the first time that day.

The mobile skatepark has been sent for a reskin with high grade marine ply, ready for you all to hammer it when the weather improves.

Skate Trips could be getting subsidised, meaning the prices I put up could well get cheaper. There are currently 10 places available for the blackpool trip on the 5th of December. Get on it, download the booking forms on the news page.

Thats it for this week, thanks for reading,

The Story So Far...

welcome to the first proper grand blog post. So what have we been up to recently?

Paul has been organising the winter skatepark tour, details will follow later this week, but the first trip will be on the 5th December 2009 to Ramp City in Blackpool. The cost for this trip will be £5.

Keep an eye out for posters and check the news page for information on how to book yourself a place.

In other news we're looking into the possibility of creating a qualification in skateboarding for beginners with AQA, its early days yet but we're excited.

As most of you know by now, the Sport England bid fell through so plans for the extention and roof are on hold for a little while, but we ARE trying our hardest to find an alternative source of money so we can still do it.

Thats all for now, don't forget to follow all our social networking pages, links are on the right of the site.

Cheers
Lorente
